I was looking for a external (USB) Blu-ray burner which I can move around all my computers (PC and Mac). I had many internal burners in the past and learned my lesson about quality media and good burners (if you need a readable disk burned a year or more ago, you have to use good media and a burner that is capable to burn the disk properly). The new BDR-XD04S5PK was the only compact Blu-ray burner available as of 04/2012 that is capable of burning new 4-layer Blu-ray disks.
So far so good. I've burned few disks on Windows machines already without any problems; and it was recognized on my Mac Mini 2011. The device is very quiet, well designed, powers via USB cable and comes with a licensed copy of CyberLink Media Suite 8 BD (Windows).
