I purchased this item direct from Amazon and it turns out that it is the genuine APC unit. I've ordered the battery before through Amazon but with another seller and it was unfortunately a third party battery.
I would give this 5 stars if APC included a return label for the old battery inside the packaging. Instead, I had to search through their website for the link to print out a return label.
